2. Scope
This policy covers vokoriginals.com only. It does not cover VOK’s pages on Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, or TikTok. Those are governed by each platform’s own privacy policy.
3. What we collect
Information you give us
We only collect personal information that you choose to send us.
Contact form. When you use our contact form, we collect your name, your email address, and your message. We use this only to reply to you.
Story tips and emails. If you email us or send us information, we keep that correspondence so we can respond and, where relevant, follow up on the story.
You do not need an account to read this website.
Information collected automatically
Server logs. Like all websites, our server automatically records your IP address, browser type, operating system, the pages you visit, the time of your visit, and the website you came from. We use this for security and to fix technical problems.
Cookies. Our website uses essential cookies set by WordPress so the site works properly. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the site may stop working.
Embedded videos and content
Our articles include videos from YouTube. When a page with an embedded video loads, YouTube may set cookies and collect information such as your IP address, even if you do not press play. This is handled under Google’s privacy policy, not ours. You can read it at policies.google.com/privacy.

VOK works from Australia and Pakistan, and our readers are all over the world. Your information may be stored or processed outside your own country, including in Australia, Pakistan, Malaysia, and wherever our service providers operate.
If we transfer information from the European Union or the United Kingdom, we take reasonable steps to make sure it is protected to a similar standard.
7. How long we keep information

Server logs: up to 90 days
Journalistic material and source correspondence: as long as needed for the story and any legal record.
8. Your rights
Readers in Australia
Under the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles, you can:
- Ask to see the personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date
- Complain about how we have handled your information
- Send requests to vokoriginals@gmail.com. We will reply within 30 days.
If you are not happy with our reply, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Readers in the EU and UK
Under the GDPR, you also have the right to ask us to delete your information, to limit how we use it, to receive a copy of it, and to object to how we use it. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
We process your information based on your consent (when you contact us), our legitimate interests (keeping the site secure, understanding our readers, and our journalism), and our legal obligations.
Readers in Pakistan
Pakistan does not yet have a comprehensive data protection law in force. We apply the same standards described in this policy to all our readers, wherever they live.
